STATUS : PRE-FILED FOR INTRODUCTION IN THE 2026 SESSION

This legislation aims to provide free communication for incarcerated persons in New Jersey jails and prisons.

The Substance Abuse Recovery and Accountability Act (A6206/S5000)

STATUS: PENDING INTRODUCTION IN 2026 SESSION

 New Jersey legislative proposal aimed at reforming the parole system by prioritizing addiction treatment over reincarceration for technical violations. It seeks to lower recidivism, reduce taxpayer costs, and strengthen public safety by incentivizing compliance, ending automatic re-imprisonment for positive drug tests, and returning to a 1979 parole standard.
